It is a treatment method to save infected or decayed teeth.
How Is Root Canal Treatment Performed?
- X-ray film is taken
- Local anesthesia is performed (dental nerve may not be needed in dead teeth)
- The access cavity opens
- Decayed nerve tissue, harmful bacteria in the canals and pulp are removed from the tooth
- The cleaning process is done using root canal files
- Root canal files with increasing diameters are used
- Sodium hypochlorite is regularly used to remove micro-residues
- After the inner part of the tooth is thoroughly cleaned, the opened hole is closed.
In Which Situations Is Root Canal Treatment Applied?
- In infected teeth with deep caries
- In teeth with deep fractures
- In some cases that develop due to trauma, root canal treatment is applied.
How long does root canal treatment take?
The number of roots in a person’s tooth may vary depending on procedures such as infection in root canals, cleaning of nerves.
Is There Any Pain After Root Canal Treatment?
- For the first few days, the tissue in the area may be tender, especially if there is a cleared infection and inflammation
- This pain can be controlled with over-the-counter pain medications.
What Should Be Considered After Root Canal Treatment?
- Eating should not be eaten to avoid biting soft tissues such as cheeks, tongue, lips, until the numbness subsides
- Extreme hot and cold drinks and foods should be avoided
- Biting hard and crusty foods should be avoided until the root canal treatment process is completed
- The consumption of sticky and sugary foods should be suspended for a while.
